Guyana’s first Women’s Chamber of Commerce and Industry was established and founded by Mrs. Lyndell Danzie-Black and Mrs. Kerensa Gravesande-Bart in June 2019. There is need for a collective voice, to assist women to achieve success and economic independence through business ownership and self-employment.
More importantly the Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Guyana (WCCIG) advocates to create equal and fair business opportunities by fostering an environment that nurtures the growth of women-owned businesses in Guyana.
The WCCIG will assist its women business owners (members) to meet international standards and become certified to benefit equitably from procurement opportunities from major purchasing entities and certified minority and women suppliers. All members will include women that reflect diversity in both ethnicity, industry and business stages.
The President of WCCIG, Mrs Kerensa Gravesande-Bart, commented:
“As the inaugural President of WCCIG, I am extremely grateful and proud to carry forth and execute the vision of our co-creator founder, Mrs. Lyndell Danzie-Black ,a treasure in our country, who has done so much for all women and this year we are already working closer with her to propel the inaugural WCCIG to its full potential.
The Women Chamber of Commerce is a dynamic organization dedicated to empowering women. Our priority is to harness our members’ economic power in the country and improve the lives of women while stimulating their socio-economic growth.
Our number one goal is to work together in harmony to advance the agenda of women empowerment economically and socially. I believe that real empowerment of women would be possible only through education, encouragement of economic self-dependence, easy access to growth capital and provision of opportunities enabling the unfolding of one’s full potential. It is time for all of us to unite our efforts to spread WCCIG’s wings and embrace our diversity and richness across the country in collaboration with all our partners. I encourage the businesswomen in the community to consider becoming a member of the WCCIG. Share in our journey as we strive to attain our vision of being the voice that inspires integrity, empowerment, collaboration, and leadership.
Ladies, this is your Chamber, your voice. We are all leaders enhancing each other’s purpose.”
